Product Description I have three knives. The Swiss Army Watches knife goes in the glove box. It has a corkscrew. That is a very important tool, and I have often been the only person able to provide one. I have a Ka-Bar that I take camping. It is the most useful camp knife on the planet. It hammers tent-pegs into the ground, it cuts everything, and -- according to legend of the Ka-Bar name, it will protect you from larger carnivorous wildlife. It scares the grocer, however. And with good reason; it's big.The Buck X-Tract lives on my belt. I use the knife often, the pliers regularly (and despite their relatively small size they do an impressive job), and the screwdrivers lots. Though the handle, when the tools are deployed, feels a little hollow and flimsy, it has yet to prove so. And ever single tool opens with one hand, locks in place securely and automatically, and easily unlocks and closes with one hand. That's pretty impressive.Initial review above is from 2009, the following update is from 2011:
The knife on this tool is tough to get really sharp, and it tends to dull quicker than I'd like. Sometimes the pliers aren't secure in their closed position and will shake or bump loose, impeding blade use.
Buck Knives 730 X-Tract is a one handed, convenient multi purpose tool/knife. All of the tools in the X-tract are accessed with one hand and lock open for safety and convenience. The X-Tract comes with a full size partially serrated knife blade, compact needle nose pliers, Phillips and flat head screw drivers and a bottle/can opener. It also features a heavy duty metal lanyard loop to facilitate a lanyard, carabineer or key ring.
