Don't know if it's just mine, but it takes forever to build up a really weak light with shaking it. I've had super-cheap shake lights that worked much, much better. If you're primarily going to use the batteries instead of shaking it, and you just want the shake light capability for some dim emergency light, just so it won't be pitch black at just the wrong time, then this is still a great product.
