Product Description This type of lamp is almost 200 years old. I've had a pair of these for over 20 years. I've used them for camping & hunting trips as well as power outages. And they have always been there. Unlike the dozens of newer electric or white gas (Coleman fuel) which have come & gone. And the kerosene will stay fresh in the tank for months. Yes, kerosene has a smell. Indoors a scented candle helps a lot. Outdoors you never notice it. Just make sure you put the lantern somewhere that it won't get knocked over. Or better still, hang it up by the hangers. No, it isn't as bright as a Coleman lantern. But it's a whole bunch cheaper, to buy and to use, than a Coleman. But then when you're camping, do you really want to light up the entire forest? As a signal light, this lantern can be seen all the way across a half mile lake. For the warm glow of a well felt camp nothing beats a fire. But when you can't have one, this lantern is the next best thing.
One note. This particular type lantern is meant for kerosene. It don't burn well with lamp oil. If you decide to use oil, replace the wicks with one's meant for oil use. The light won't be as bright but you won't have the smell. I'm a guy. I use kerosene.
Metal composite. Kerosene oil powered lantern. Can be used indoors, outdoors, camping and hurricanes. Adjustable cotton wick. Water and wind resistant. With wire covered glass globe. Red color. Dimensions: 12" x 5.5" (inches).
